DOWNLONG DAYS: A ST IVES MISCELLANY by Eddie Murt. Memories of childhood in 1930’s St Ives. The late Eddie Murt takes you on a tour of the St Ives of his childhood in a history of the lower area of the town, Downlong from personal memory and previously published works, chiefly The St Ives Weekly Summary and The Western Echo. This is the work-a-day town of the ordinary folk which the early artists found so fascinating and was to change irrevocably after World War II. Eddie Murt, who died in 1993, was the last Down'longer to document a unique way of life which has now all but disappeared.
